Have I ever mentioned how much I hate running?
8 weeks ago I have started running with a friend and my mother. We are doing a 5K app program (oddly enough, called Run 5K). You run three days a week for half an hour each day for 8 weeks. It starts you off with running slow intervals and walking longer intervals. The first day is Warmup walk 5 minutes, jog 45 seconds, walk 90 seconds, job 45 seconds, walk 60 seconds; repeat 4 more times, cool down, walk 5 minutes. The last day is 5 minute warmup, then job for 30 minutes no walking, cool down 5 minutes.
The app yells at you when it’s time to walk and when it’s time to run and you have the ability to listen to your own music while running.
We just finished week 8 and I still can’t run for a full 30 minutes. In fact I think the longest consecutive run was for 12 minutes. I have decided that until I can run the full 30 minutes straight, I am not allowed to quite doing this routine. So we are going to start the app about half way through. Our next run will be week 4 day 1 and then we will go all the way to week 8 day three. Hopefully I’ll be doing better by then.
I really hate running. I don’t understand how people enjoy it so much. Alas it is a good work out, so I keep puttin’ along. In fact it’s helped so much that since my post in February about starting to track my weight and nutrition, I have gone down almost 7lbs. I’m sure if I added better eating and more exercise I could go down faster, but at this pace I will still be at a good spot by the wedding and hopefully be in a space where I can maintain at that weight instead of having to constantly work on losing more weight.
Here’s hoping!
